Hello, and welcome! If you’re here checking out this page, there’s a big chance that you are studying families and looking for an internship. (I’m looking at you, ECU Human Development & Family Science undergrads!)
Grab the Tissues Alert: This internship site does not allow for clinical contact hours for graduate students at this time. Students do not have to attend ECU to apply. Master’s level students are welcome if they are studying human development or family science.
If you have an interest in either providing Family Life Education services as a career, or you want to pursue a master’s degree in mental health, this internship will not only show you the difference in the two areas, but you will learn how to have your own practice as a family life educator and get a peek behind the scenes in a mental health private practice.
It happens all of the time- but sadly, those who are making a full-time (and then some) income helping families in this way aren’t trained in family sciences at all. Those individuals simply have a passion for the topic they talk about paired with knowledge on how to build an online business.
Family scientists geek out over cool knowledge, like how we can show a strong attachment bond between a couple with an fMRI machine. We get excited about teaching people how to communicate in a way that helps them feel more understood and connected.
Many helping professionals are either intimidated by technology, or they simply don’t know where to start and what’s out there.
So I’m going to teach you all of that. That’s the benefit for you.
I have a passion for learning and teaching- and that includes family science students along with the individuals and families who need us.
There aren’t enough hours in the day for me to be able to create all of the fun things to help others, while taking care of my family, or attending to my therapy clients.
Families are constantly looking for resources- mostly online these days. And we’re going to deliver!
They were looking online for help before the COVID-19 pandemic. But as families are forced to do more with less time, money, physical energy, and emotional capacity, they are especially are eager for any tip that can give them even 5 seconds of hope, calm, and efficiency. And now with financial challenges, families are more eager than ever to find solutions. And we’re going to deliver!
