Confidence is such a moody thing.
One minute, you can feel on top of the world, only to come crashing down after a comment, a look, a text, or even a thought just 30 seconds later. Maybe you’ve wondered:
Many women have had those thoughts. And it’s easy to see why. From Photoshopped images of celebrities, to “reality shows” that make everyone else’s home life appear magical, and an endless flood of links promising to give you the one secret you need to capture his attention for life- it’s natural to wonder if you’re somehow missing some spark that makes you shine.
In fact, this spring when I did a survey to find out what women wanted to hear about, the overwhelming majority of respondents said they wanted to hear about ways to boost their confidence.
In case you and I haven’t met before, I’m Tammy Whitten, and my passion is helping women to feel less stress and anxiety in their lives. Since none of us live in a vacuum, a lot of the work that we do together focuses on the connections that we have to others in our lives, and how they add to, take away, and support us.
By training, I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Certified Family Life Educator. But please don’t be intimidated by that. I actually believe that most people don’t need therapy, but they do need to learn some new things to try to help them move forward. That’s why I work hard to make lots of teleseminars and online programs available- because I know there’s not a lot of people with these credentials offering this type of service. 🙂
So back to this month’s telseminar…
What am I Doing Wrong?
How to Raise Your Confidence and Believe in Yourself
Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 8:30pm EDT/5:30 PDT
(recording will be sent out if you can’t make it live)
In our 30 minutes together, we’re going to:
- Get clear on which areas of your life you’re confident in, and which areas could use a little TLC
- Discover what you may be doing that’s hindering your confidence (aka the “wrong” part)
- Identify your starting place to start building confidence
- Share the myths of confident people
- Create a plan that realistically fits for you
- And more!
All you have to do is pop in your first name and the best email address for me to reach you in the boxes below.
Then you’ll get an email asking you to click on a confirmation link to make sure that you do want me to send you the info. (Sometimes, well-meaning friends and family members sign people up. Oops. So I ask for a confirmation just to keep from starting a family feud.)
Barefoot. Funny. And real. That’s how Tammy Whitten keeps things in her life- and when working with her clients as a marriage and family therapist and family life educator. She decided to leave university teaching to open her own practice after hearing too many stories of people trying to connect to a therapist “who really got it.” There, her passion to work with clients in her friendly, supportive way allows her clients to experience miraculous results.
Tammy has worked with families in the neonatal intensive care unit, opened and managed a local branch of a national non-profit agency, worked with special needs children and their families, provided intensive in home therapy, edited two parenting magazines, and taught for several years at a local university.
Tammy’s promise is this:
I will never ask you to do something that I am not willing to do myself. Nor will I ask you to do something that I wouldn’t suggest to a friend or loved one in my own life. When we do need to talk about sensitive areas, I will do it with kindness and support (and hopefully a few laughs, too). I always lead with a warning that you may throw something at me. You never have to worry about me “just saying something to be nice.” You’ll get the truth, but you’ll also get some insights that you probably haven’t thought of before. I’m not like any any other therapist that you’ll ever meet (for one I’ll be barefoot). And I never make promises that I can’t keep. Ever (just ask my 5th grade class when I ran for Student Council President).
In her spare time, Tammy loves spending time with her family and friends, relaxing with “ShondaLand,” trying out new recipes, and finding ways to fix all of the machines she seems to constantly break.
Tammy is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Certified Family Life Educator. Her private practice is in Greenville, NC. She serves clients beyond her local area through online classes, speaking, and retreats. Her first book on relationship stress will be released in 2015.
