It’s no secret that stress can impact your health. From increasing blood pressure, to lowering your immune system so you catch every cold and flu that comes your way, to making it difficult to get pregnant, stress can impact every aspect of your life.
But did you know that stress can actually make your allergies worse?
If you have seasonal allergies (like hay fever), then make self-care a priority- particularly on days where you’ve got an extra worry adding stress to your day. Dr. Clifford Bassett, an allergist at the New York University Medical Center, shared that because of increased cortisol pumping through your body as a result of stress, it can lead to more intense allergic responses.
So the next time you have to give a presentation, travel, or face your in-laws, make sure to plan in something relaxing and rejuvenating as part of your day. It will help to keep the sneezes away!
See? I keep telling you that self-care isn’t selfish and that it helps you in more ways than one!
